Each month we highlight Kennett Area businesses aligned with our mission to promote locally produced foods and crafts. This month we feature, The Castaneda Family and their wonderful family-run enterprise, Taste of Puebla located at 900 W Cypress Street in Kennett Square. This amazing enterprise was started in 2010 when Cristobal and Mariana Castaneda left 3 decades of working in the mushroom industry and turned their attention Mariana’s love of cooking. Today, the company manages a food truck, retail sales, catering operations and events. Taste of Puebla products can be found in area Food Cooperatives such as the Swarthmore Food Co-op, small grocery operations and at Farmers Markets. This wonderful business is a true family endeavor and reflects wholeheartedly their beautiful tradition of preparing and eating food together as a way of preserving family life and promoting traditional Mexican culture. We are blessed to be invited to be a part of this culture and tradition. Mariana and Cristobal have five children. The oldest son, Christopher is the full-time General Manager of Taste of Puebla and we are so very proud to say that he is part of the Kennett Community Grocer Family as a Member-Owner. You can find Christopher and his fiancée, Candace, at the store on Cypress Street and other family members are at the Kennett Farmers Market on Fridays.
We look forward to the day our store opens and we will proudly offer prepared foods by Taste of Puebla. This will definitely provide you with dinner options and when you purchase, you will not only support KCG and Taste of Puebla, you will also support the wonderful Hispanic culture of Kennett Square which is so valuable to who and what we are in the Mushroom Capital of the World!
