We are planning our Annual Member-Owner Meeting on April 10th, 7:00 PM, at the Kennett Senior Center located at 427 S Walnut Street in Kennett Square. There is plenty of parking and we hope to see as many Member-Owners as possible. For those who cannot come in person, please join the meeting via Zoom. It is important that we have at least 47 "M-Os" in attendance, either in person or online, to have a 10% voting quorum at the meeting. We will present an overview of activity since the last Annual Meeting in December and share upcoming plans and ideas which have been discussed at recent Board meetings. Voting on specific issues (if needed) will be done at the end of the presentation. KCG is yourco-op grocery store and your opinions and votes are what counts in envisioning the store and developing the business.
A formal invitation with the Zoom meeting details was emailed directly to members on February 17th. The email also included a survey link to submit questions or comments in advance so that the Board can be sure to address them during the presentation. A reminder email will be sent closer to the meeting.
And as a reminder, KCG has 5 open Board seats for the Spring election that occurs after the Annual Meeting. It is a great time to get involved in shaping the future of our co-op. More detail about Board elections will be shared leading up to the April meeting.
The next open meeting of the Board of Directors will be Monday, March 10th at 7:00 PM on Zoom. Please email us if you'd like the link to join.
Our KCG Volunteers and Board Members are active, hardworking, and fun! Join the team to help build a better grocery store.

LOOKING AHEAD
Hopefully this summer, we will hold the first KCG “Grown Up Talent Show”: We have an idea for a very entertaining fundraiser evening, presented with a community partner!
For early next fall, we are putting together an educational panel with nutrition experts on the benefits of eating local and reducing your intake of ultra-processed foods, with a focus on the ways a food co-op makes this easy to achieve.
MEMBER BENEFIT PROGRAM
SPOTLIGHT:
BIG BUFFALO CREEK REGENERATIVE FARM
Big Buffalo Creek Regenerative Farm joined KCG's Member Benefit Program (MBP) last summer and, as a “Small, Chemical-Free, Family Vegetable Farm,” its mission perfectly dovetails with our own. Regenerative farming works with the natural cycles and ecosystems of soils to grow more nutritious and plentiful produce – in other words delicious fruits and veggies.
As part of the program, Big Buffalo Creek offers a discount to KCG Member-Owners: 10% off on orders of $45 or more PLUS free pickup from Kennett Friends Meetinghouse. To read more about Big Buffalo Creek and how to place an order—and to see all 18 of our Member Benefit partners—check out the MBP page of our website.

DON’T MISS AN EVENING OF FUN AND COMMUNITY!
Now is the time to get your tickets for our March 22nd FUNraiser at the Red Clay Room next door to the Kennett Fire Company, 301 Dalmatian Street in Kennett Square. The cost is $60 per person and proceeds go towards opening your store. Join us to eat wonderful food, drink beer and wine, and taste specialty chili from two great area restaurants, Sovana Bistro and Sweet Amelia’s. Entertainment for your listening and dancing pleasure will be provided by the legendary area band, the Dale Melton Trio.
Dale Melton, along with his late brother, Dennis, have been long-time community leaders in our area. They have also been staples of the Philadelphia and New York jazz scenes for decades. The current trio includes rhythm master Jonathan W. Whitney on drums and the soulful Sam Nobles on bass. Dale is a master of vintage keyboards including a Hammond organ, Wurli, DX7 and grand piano. Together the Trio plays a rhythmic stew of New Orleans funk, early rock, blues, bossa nova, and fantastic New York jazz that will get everyone up and dancing, no expertise or rhythm needed!
Come out to enjoy an open bar, a dinner buffet in addition to the chili, and dancing. There will be a 50/50 raffle and additional raffle items (bring cash). What a fun way to build the grocery store we are all working towards!!
Your financial contribution to Kennett Community Grocer’s "Capital Stew" will help bring healthy, local, and affordable food to our community. Please make a donation today!
