The Annual Meeting of our membership was held on April 10, 2025. Thank you to the Kennett Area Senior Center for hosting and for agreeing to host our Board meetings for the 2025–2026 term. Over 40 Member-Owners attended in person and on Zoom.
At the meeting, we reaffirmed our mission to open a co-op grocery store that fosters community-building and offers locally produced food for retail purchase. If you missed it, a replay was emailed directly to members—or you can read the recap in the Chester County Press.
A large portion of the meeting focused on gathering ideas from attendees about KCG’s path forward. In addition to seating new working Board members, we discussed interim ways to begin offering a shopping experience—such as a “mini-store” concept or online ordering platform—before raising sufficient funds to lease and build the larger store.
In the coming months, the Board will:
Distribute a member survey to gather input
Begin evaluating these alternative models
Conduct financial feasibility studies
Explore potential locations
Stay tuned to our emails, social media posts, and newsletter announcements.
As was also noted in the meeting, we currently have seven (7) Board seats* available for election. We need passionate Member-Owners to step up and join this hardworking group of folks in order to bring any of these ideas to life; especially individuals with experience in marketing, social media, event planning, and financing.
If you're a Member-Owner, check your email for the application link—applications close May 2nd. The following week, you'll receive a ballot to vote for candidates. Serving on the KCG Board is more than just a leadership role—it’s an opportunity to make a real impact. But don’t just take our word for it… ▶️Watch this video by a current Board Member and Volunteer about why they commit their time to KCG and what they’ve gained from the experience.
* Three of the candidates are incumbent Board members who must run in the election as they were appointed to terms of resigned Board members. We encourage you to return our incumbent members to the Board. They are Lisa Baldwin, Sandi Murphy, and Mitch Warren.

MEMBERSHIP EVER-GROWING
We’re proud to report that we now have 471 Member-Owners! The Founding 500 will be permanently honored in the store. Join now to be part of this forward-looking group! Members will help decide what this tribute will look like—a mural wall? a brick walkway? The options are wide open.
And while our membership is growing, our volunteer base needs to grow, too. If you have a knack for writing, graphic design, planning events—or just want to pitch in—we’d love your help. ✏️We’re even looking for someone to help write this newsletter! Please fill out the volunteer form on our website to let us know you are interested, and Volunteer Coordinator Sandi Murphy will be in touch.
We bid a heartfelt farewell to Tracy Bhalla who has completed her three-year term on the Board. Tracy's impact will be felt for years to come— she founded the KCG Member Benefit Program (MBP) and managed operations for our popular KCG Co-op boxes. You can stay in touch and continue to support Tracy through her local business, LogHouse Aromatics, where her talent makes the world a happier place one green bottle at a time.
Based on a 315-year-old property, her business operates out of the historic Harlan Log House. Tracy is an internationally certified aromatherapist who handcrafts each product with special care and attention to the environment. KCG Member-Owners receive a discount of 10% on these products!
