The summer is ending with our lease negotiations for 600 S. Broad Street still pending. The next step is for the Kennett Borough to present us with a written lease agreement we can respond to. We will let our membership know of the terms once established and what the steps will be from there. The Kennett Community Grocer Board is exercising its fiduciary responsibility to act on your behalf in this process. And as always, we seek to fulfill our promise to you to make wise decisions for the future of KCG.
At the Board meeting in August, we discussed the 10-year pro forma completed by our consultant, Sarah Lebherz, from Columinate. This report forecasts the future financial performance of a business based on certain assumptions or projections. Sarah is presently the CFO of Common Market Co-ops in Maryland as well as a consultant for Columinate and has over 30 years of experience in financial planning, management, and operations of co-op grocery stores. Her excellent report will guide many of our upcoming key decisions regarding the store.
Our next Board meeting will be Monday, Sepember 9th in person at the Kennett Library in the Oak Room. As a reminder, meetings are open to any Member-Owners who would like to attend.

MEMBERSHIP EVER-GROWING
We are currently at a member-owner count of 424, adding another 10(!) new members since the publication of our last newsletter. Thanks to all of you who have talked to friends and neighbors about joining the co-op, put signs on your property, and enthusiastically attended events. Without your support, none of this would be happening. We are hopeful that by December we will meet our goal for the year of 500 Member-Owners.
Reminder: The Founding 500 members will be honored in the store. If you want to be recognized as part of this forward-looking group – or know someone who might – now is the time to join! Members will determine what this commemoration will look like – a brick walkway? a mural wall? so many options!
Join KCG friends and neighbors at September's events. These are great opportunities to introduce anyone interested in membership to our community!
Wednesday, September 18, 5-7 PM: Meet us for Happy Hour at Braeloch Brewing (225 Birch St, Kennett Square, PA). Join us (and extend an invitation to friends and neighbors) who might be interested in joining the co-op. You and your guests enjoy a drink on us! No RSVP is required.
