WHAT WE HAVE BEEN UP TO
The results of the Annual Board Election are in: you have elected to return Edie Burkey to the Board and selected Philippe Mazur, Norah Roth-Moore and Victoria Wiedwald to become Board Directors for the next three years. We extend them a warm welcome.
The new Board will have a Retreat in January to ramp up our plans to move this store forward. Our Consultants, Laurel Blair and Carol Ritter, will lead the retreat. Laurel and Carol come to us from Caroltalks, a marketing and business development company from Bethlehem, PA. Both were instrumental in developing the Bethlehem Food Co-op which is opening in late January 2024. We hope to learn from their experiences and bring our Cooperative much closer to opening.

SPECIAL FEATURE:
Well done, Co-op Box Team and Volunteers!
|
|
The Membership of Kennett Community Grocer extends a heartfelt thank you to the team of people who organized and delivered on the KCG Produce Boxes for the past 18 months. The team included Tracy Bhalla, Ashton Bhalla, Philippe Mazur, Sandi Murphy, Nancy Lappenbusch, Rachel Warren, Mitch Warren, and Edie Burkey. Our Communications team members, including Kimm Eagle, Adam Peterson, Anne Vial, and Olivia Finizio, contributed a great deal of energy to advertising the box and pick-up events. Other volunteers contributed their time and help as well. And of course, we could not have done this without the great produce and service provided by Flying Plow Farm from Cecil County, Maryland.
The KCG Board of Directors made the difficult decision to end this produce box effort due to the many demands that will be placed on all the above volunteers as we move into the next phase of expanding the Membership numbers and doing fundraising to have sufficient resources to open the grocery store.
Flying Plow will continue to offer monthly produce through their website, www.flyingplow.com. They offer CSA’s and individual purchase choices for home delivery or pick up at selected sites. Please check this out and support them.
We, along with many of our vendors, will be moving on to a new Member-Benefit program to be detailed in emails to come and in the January Newsletter.

Just a thought: Is your Apple Butter getting tired of toast? Try using it on a crusty sandwich with ham, cheddar, some thin apple slices, and arugula.
