Notes from your Store Manager, Rachel Sanchez
The Team Behind KCG!
As we prepare to open, I keep thinking about the kind of place I hope KCG will be. Of course, I want it to be a great place to shop for local food and discover products made by people in our area. But I also want it to be a place where people feel welcome, where neighbors connect, where we support one another, and where there's a spark of joy in the everyday.
We've hired a diverse group of people with different backgrounds, experiences, skills, and talents. And what's really cool is that we're starting this together, from day one. We're not stepping into an established store with an existing culture. We get to build that culture together, figure out what makes our team special, and shape the kind of experience we want people to have when they walk through our doors.
As their GM, I want to be a servant leader. I want our staff to feel supported, respected, and proud of the work they do. They've each chosen to be part of something new, and I'm excited to see what they bring to the space, to the team, and to the community.
After all the planning and preparation, we're finally at the point where we get to put everything into practice. Our team will help shape what KCG becomes, but they'll be doing that alongside the community we serve. The culture of KCG won't be shaped by any one person. It will grow out of how we treat one another, how we support our vendors, and how we make shoppers feel when they're here.
I hope KCG becomes a place where everyone feels welcome and where kindness and respect go both ways.
