CO-OP NEWS

We have exciting news coming your way later this month! Insider alert: we will be in the Winter edition of FIG Magazine with a surprise to reveal at the FIG launch party.

The board and committees continue to plan for an exciting winter season with big goals to bring a flood of new member-owners and speed up the process of opening our doors. We are so excited to get to a place where we can dream about where this store will be and the services we can host in our space. Help us get there by being an advocate, joining a committee, promoting social media posts and talking to people about the co-op.

This becomes a reality at the speed of our passion and willingness to share with our community the vision and dream we have. If you haven't already, take an active role in sharing and participating with us.  If you need ideas, we have several opportunities over the next month. Check them out below.

BECOME A MEMBER OWNER

Ensure that our local community owned grocer becomes a reality. Become a member owner today. A one time investment of $300 is all it takes to make sure that this community that prides itself in local, sustainable, and community focused efforts has a grocery store that embodies those values and that you as a part of this community have a place that is accessible and trustworthy to shop at. Join us! You can choose a one time investment of $300 or 12 payments of $25 to make it easier on your budget.

COME GET INVOLVED

WE'VE GOT A LOT OF OPPORTUNITIES  THIS MONTH

1. Walk with us in the Holiday Lights Parade on Nov 29th
It was a lot of fun for the Mushroom Festival and this time we plan to have a tractor with us! Bring your friends and let's have a big presence spreading holiday cheer and co-op love.

2. Join us at the pop-up shop on Small Business Saturday, Nov 30, in Nomadic Pies. Your friends and family can stop by and become MO or get more info. Plus get a yummy pie to take home for their post Thanksgiving gatherings (or just for dinner).

3. Last: Please join us on December 10th at The Garage for our Member-Owner Appreciation Event. Bring your homemade cookies to swap and go home with a new assortment of cookies to share at your holiday gatherings. Also, we are making goodie bags to send home with you to show our love! Bring your neighbors and friends and if they become Member-Owners that night, they'll go home with a goodie bag too.

TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Take the next step to spread the word and build excitement and momentum around the co-op. We need your enthusiasm and involvement to make sure our doors open as quickly as possible. Plan to attend a committee meeting to give your input and get plugged in.

    President's Report

Halloween is gone and the holiday season has already pounced, with Christmas decorations lining store shelves and the swirling anxieties of plans, parties, gifts, and all that needs to get done starting to creep in. I encourage you to take an inventory of where you spend your money this season and make a dedication to support your local producers and purveyors as much as possible. Money spent on your community, stays in your community, and fuels the beautiful spirit that makes Kennett Square the town we all know and love. The Co-op looks forward to when there is a physical store to purchase your local goods, but in the meantime, we hope you will support some of our top local producers and current Member-Owners:

Try some of SWALLOW HILL FARM’s amazing winter squash and Brussel sprouts for an excellent seasonal side dish. They can be found at the Kennett Farmer’s Market every Friday.

SWARMBUSTIN HONEY is the perfect local honey to add to your tea when you feel that scratchy throat coming on this winter. They can be found in shops around town or at their website.

And don’t forget the pie! NOMADIC PIES can help take the stress out of your holiday by making delicious, locally-sourced, seasonal pies for your meal! Stop by their shop on State St. or order online.
